Stagewise ERP vs TallyPrime

The honest answer first: these are not really competitors. Tally is accounting software and it is excellent at accounting. Stagewise ERP runs the operations that happen before a transaction ever reaches your books.

Where the confusion comes from

Tally is so widely used in India that it becomes the default answer to "what software do you run?". But most of what an MSME struggles with day to day is not accounting. It is knowing which technician is at which site, whether the AMC that expires next month has been renewed, why a quotation took two hours to prepare, and whether the attendance register matches reality.

Tally was never designed for those questions, and adding them to it usually means bolting on third-party modules or maintaining spreadsheets alongside.

  Stagewise ERP TallyPrime

Field service & AMC Built in — technician assignment, service tickets, AMC contracts with renewal reminders, repair history per unit. Not a core function; typically handled outside Tally or via third-party add-ons.
Mobile app for field staff Native iOS and Android apps with geo-fenced attendance, live location and photo proof on tasks. Primarily a desktop product; mobile access generally via Tally on cloud or third-party services.
Payroll & attendance Included, with geo-fenced mobile attendance for staff who are not at a desk. Payroll available in the Gold edition; attendance capture is not location-aware.
Quotations AI drafts full quotations from your own product knowledge base — roughly ten minutes instead of two hours. Quotation and invoice formats available; drafting is manual.
Hosting & data Cloud, with a dedicated isolated server and database per client. Installed locally by default; cloud access requires a separate Tally-on-cloud provider.
GST compliance GST-ready sales, purchase and quotation documents. Very strong — statutory compliance is Tally's core strength and long-standing reputation.

When to keep Tally

If your requirement is books, GST returns, e-invoicing and inventory valuation, Tally is a well-proven choice with a deep bench of local accountants who already know it. Replacing it purely to consolidate vendors is rarely worth the disruption.

When Stagewise ERP is the missing piece

If work happens away from the office — site teams, technicians, field sales — and the office only learns what happened when someone gets back and fills in a form, that is the gap Stagewise fills. Geo-fenced attendance, service tickets closed from the phone, AMC renewals that raise reminders, and quotations drafted by AI in minutes.

Plenty of our customers run both. Tally holds the books; Stagewise runs the business.

Common questions

Is Stagewise ERP a replacement for Tally?
For most businesses, no — they solve different problems. Tally is accounting and statutory compliance software, and it is very good at that. Stagewise ERP handles the operational side: field service, AMC, projects, tasks, quotations, payroll and attendance. Many customers continue running Tally for their books and use Stagewise for everything that happens before the entry reaches accounts.
Which is cheaper, Tally or Stagewise ERP?
They price differently, so it depends on team size. TallyPrime is a one-time licence — ₹22,500 for Silver or ₹67,500 for Gold, plus 18% GST and an annual TSS renewal. Stagewise ERP is ₹999 per user per month with a minimum of 20 users, which is about ₹20,000 per month for a 20-person team. Tally is cheaper on paper for a small team; Stagewise covers operational functions that would otherwise need separate software alongside Tally.
Can Tally handle AMC and field service?
Not natively. Tally is built around accounting, inventory and compliance. Businesses that need annual maintenance contract tracking, technician scheduling and service history usually run a separate system for it, or buy a third-party add-on.
